Etsy Entertainment

So I was browsing Etsy.com today - half-heartedly looking for a cool mail organizer to hang on the wall. And then, I saw this:

Oh. My. I don't know what I'd do with one of those.

Designing a Store for Work

So, at work, I'm trying to create an online store. There's a company that allows you to upload your own template so the store can look exactly like the rest of your website (which is a really cool feature).

Well... I go to upload my template, and here is the screen:

Wow.

Mmm, Strawberries

Jess and I went to Sweet Berry Farm yesterday. Strawberries are in season! SBF lets you get a basket and pick as many strawberries as you want (for $2.50/lb - AND you can nom while picking). Jess apologized for ruining store-bought strawberries for me forever, but I can't complain. These are AMAZING.

Storms!

It just started storming like crazy here. Funny thing is, the radar maps on Weather.com don't show any rain or storms anywhere except way north of the city. Not that I'm complaining - I love the rain. I'm just glad I shut all my windows at home before coming to work.

I can't believe I don't have a weather tag yet. I will now correct this.

Fear My Maturity Level + Lousy Neighbors

I was searching for customized Staples "Easy" buttons as a company promo/giveaway at an upcoming convention. I just thought the condensed tab was hilarious.

Also, remember my complaints about my super-noisy upstairs neighbors? After a couple months of calling the apartment complex to complain and nothing really getting done AND after some encouragement from Jess and Robert, I finally called the police last night at about 12:30a. Either Robert or Jess called it "enforcing politeness." The music was so loud that they didn't hear the police knocking until the second time - then they promptly turned the music down and stayed really still. On the third knock, they opened the door.
Policeman: "We got a call about unreasonable noise levels. Are you playing loud music?"
Neighbor: "No."
Policeman: "Were you just recently playing loud music?"
Neighbor: "No. Is everything okay?"
Policeman: "Should you decide to play music, just be mindful of your volume after 10pm, okay?"
And that was that.

My neighbors were EXTREMELY angry. It was pretty obvious who had called, so they stomped around on the floor for several minutes before either getting tired or realizing how completely ridiculous they were being. In any case, we'll see if it happens again or not.

Ultimately, though, I'll only have to deal with it for another three weeks.

My Innocence is Lost. LOST!

So, I am reading "The Neverending Story" (yes, it was a book before it was a movie - imagine that), and I came across this line:

There were goat-legged fauns and gigantic night-hobs, there were elves and kobolds, beetle riders and three-legses, a man-sized rooster in jackboots, a stag with golden antlers who walked erect and wore a Prince Albert.

Wait... WHAT?!

So you can imagine where my mind went. Up until now, I only knew one definition for a Prince Albert, and a stag walking "erect" showing off one of those is just asking for trouble.

After looking it up to see what else a Prince Albert could possibly be, I discovered this. Ahhh, that makes MUCH more sense. I guess in 1970s Germany (where and when the book was written), men didn't go around piercing their goods.

Spring! And Recap!

Here it is, folks. That time of year when I use up all my energy trying not to bitch about the heat. And it's just *spring* - just you wait until summer. I'll be a giant ball of misery and complaints. Mwahaha! On the plus side... sno-cones! So yay.

Despite the rising temperatures, I actually kind of like spring. Austin's a beautiful city, and the Hill Country is a beautiful region. When everything starts turning green again after (what passes for) winter, the world just looks a little more pleasant. All the wildflowers are blooming too - I forget how much I love Indian paintbrushes. Plus, the promise of sno-cone season is too much to resist. ^.^

So. Here's a quick catch-up on the goings-on these days (since we're the world's laziest bloggers - actually, I really doubt that):

Jess and I are going to be roommates again! We found a lovely little townhome that is close to both our jobs and Jess's school. Our back patio opens up right next to the pool (and covered hot tub - woooo), AND our property manager is pretty much a bad-ass.

Salt the Holly is plugging away and, if I dare say so, doing rather well! I feel like the story is starting to really take off, but then again, I always feel like "the story is just starting!" regardless of where we are in the comic, haha. But really, the events that are happening now are like the NOS in a race.

We launched a second comic at the beginning of March called ...But Not Really - it's a photocomic with one-off stories and jokes, nothing plot-oriented.

Also in March, we went to the Kite Festival with some friends, played lots and lots of Munchkin (we even have our own version/expansion pack in progress!), and Jess survived SXSW (which is apparently the busiest time of year for her job). I also took a vacation and drove to Wichita Falls and Plano in a very leisurely fashion (stopped in lots of small towns and looked at lots and lots of historical markers).
