Another Dream

Have you ever played Baldur's Gate? I'm thinking about the Dark Alliance games for the PS2 specifically. Anyway, there are some puzzles you have to solve to get through certain levels - like, jump on the platforms in the right order so you don't fall off.

Anyway. I was in a party of four (Jess, my brother, and our friend Justin), and we were on our way to fight the final boss. Well, we had to go through all these really stupid puzzles. One of them was to jump on platforms in spectrum order. Yeah, like ROY G BIV. There was a bit of a spat about indigo versus violet (seriously, those are really tough to tell apart). I don't recall most of the other puzzles - lots of jumping, though.

And the final boss? It was a velociraptor. A really big one.

How Fortune Cookie Traditions Evolve

Jess has explained our fortune cookie tradition in a previous update.

Well, last night, I was out with some friends, and one refused REFUSED to eat the fortune cookie. So it was decided that he had to add "except you" to the end of his fortune because not eating the cookie means the fortune will not apply to you.

His fortune? "Don't be afraid to smile...except you."

This time I will ask nicely, but next time, you'd just better watch out. If you can't drive the speed limit, please drive in the slow lane.

I'm currently at school waiting for my next class to start. I just checked out an audio CD from the school library that we're apparently not allowed to rip. I ripped it anyway. Why not? I'll delete it when I'm done.

Yesterday I spent the day at home doing just about everything that wasn't anything. So, all-in-all, I did nothing. It was wonderful. I had a friend come out and see me, too. He joined me in my nothingness and the time just flew. Who knew that doing nothing could be so fun? Office Space really had a point, you know? It's pretty amazing how the littlest, minute details of life can be some of the best things about it. I wish I could enjoy every day like I did yesterday.

Maybe I shouldn't drive anymore?

Today's fortune: You will be asked to step up to the plate in new ways.
Cryptic message: No.

A Bad Night but a Good Morning

So my upstairs neighbors seem to have declared war. Remember a couple posts back when I had called in a noise complaint - and then fretted about it because I felt like a jerk? Well, I don't feel that way anymore. Turns out that calling in a noise complaint does nothing but make them turn UP the volume. Mmhmm. I love it when the bass is so loud upstairs that my walls rattle. It's really pleasant and soothing. Do I feel like a jerk anymore? No. (Well, I still do, actually - but I'm getting better at talking myself out of that mindset.)

If it's going to be war, then let it be war. I'll win.

As you can imagine, last night was pretty rough. I finally just drove the 45 minutes out to Jess's place and stayed the night there. This morning was nice, though! I stopped at Starbucks for breakfast (stop gagging, Jess - you're just a snobby elitist now). The lady in front of me ordered exactly what I was planning to get (no water soy chai and a cranberry scone), so we decided we were both completely awesome. Her name was Patty. We got our scones and our cups, toasted one another, and then went on with our mornings. Seems silly, but it was a really great start to my Thursday.
